First Look at Crozet Book Festival Artwork!

Meet Mary Ellen from meoMADE, the artist of the 3rd Annual Crozet Book Fest on October 24th!
Read our Q&A about Mary Ellen's inspiration of this year's artwork, her background, and her experience with Bluebird & Book Fest.
1. How did you develop this year's Crozet Book Fest artwork?
Creating this year’s art was such a fun collaboration! Flannery wanted the art to instantly read as “meoMADE” and left the specifics up to me. Since the festival happens in the fall (my favorite season), I included lots of leaves, branches and berries, alongside stacks of pretty books. I drew everything with pencil on paper, then scanned it and finished it digitally. I chose a cozy autumnal color palette and we hid some fun festival hints in the art.
2. How did you get involved with Bluebird & Co.?
Bluebird & Co. has always been very supportive of meoMADE. I can’t actually remember how we met - probably discussing books in the shop? I have a ton of book-themed art in my line and Bluebird was one of my first wholesale accounts. Flannery has given me some great business and personal advice over the years and I’m so grateful for her friendship.
3. What role do books/reading play in your life?
I’ve always been an avid reader. I love falling into a story and caring so deeply about the characters that I feel like I know them. I’m a big supporter of libraries and local bookstores, for the books and the community. Currently I’m reading The Unselected Journals of Emma. M. Lion (along with everyone else) and I can’t get enough.
4. What does the Crozet Book Fest mean to you?
The Crozet Book Fest is honestly one of my favorite days of the year. Hearing authors speak about their craft is always so inspiring and the team puts together such engaging panels. I’ve attended as a reader, as a volunteer and now as this year’s poster artist. I’ve seen a sneak peek of the 2026 lineup of authors and you’re not going to want to miss this one!
5. Tell us about your brand, meoMADE, and where else we can find your work?
meoMADE is a stationery and illustration studio based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. I work in both pencil and watercolor and most of my art is inspired by nature. My greeting cards and watercolor painting kits are available at local shops, pop-up markets and on meomade.com. I also organize a Sketchbook Club for local artists in Crozet, VA.
